Monistat For Natural Hair Growth

Image
Monistat for Natural Hair Growth I was recently asked on Facebook by a lovely young lady about using Monistat for hair growth. Yes…….you read right. We are talking about Monistat Cream. You should have seen my face as I read this. I had to quickly tell her to ignore those blog posts and videos promoting this foolishness.  Oh boy! The things we women do for the dream of long hair. I have seen and heard of a lot of remedies for hair growth. However using Monistat cream for hair growth is by far the most outlandish remedy of them all. Like really?

I'm probably one of the most positive and funniest people you'd ever meet, because I believe you can find the good in any situation. How long have you been natural? I've been natural for almost 4 years. My last relaxed was in August of 2010. Did you do the Big Chop or did you transition to natural hair and When? I chose to go through the transition phase, mainly because I didn't have the courage to do the big chop. I wanted to keep my length as long as possible and this was an easier process for myself. I transitioned for a y

As I Am Coconut CoWash Cleansing Conditioner Product Review

Image
As I Am Coconut CoWash Cleansing Conditioner Product Review Product Promises: Gently cleanses hair and scalp Removes product residue Preserve moisture Price : $8 for 16oz Where to buy: Target Stores or Sally Beauty Store My Thoughts: So I bought this because lots of people was talking about it and being the Product Junkie that I am I forked over the cash. I have used most of the jar so far and I like it. It leaves my hair soft and my hair was clean. I like how it makes my hair feel after I rinse. I suggest leaving it in for a few minutes while you shave or whatever else you do in the shower to get a full conditioning.  I noticed that if I used lots of product that week then this CoWash is not enough to clean my hair and scalp in one wash. I have to repeat the process. I believe it removes some product build up but not a full week's worth of gels and moisturizers and oils. If your a wash and go person or if you Cowash your hair few times a week then

Countess Vaughn Suffers Due to Lace Front Wigs

Image
Now I have heard lots of heartbreaking stories about wearing weaves but this one is truthfully painful to hear. The actress Countess Vaughn, revealed on The Doctor's TV that she suffered severely as a result of wearing lace front wigs religiously. These wigs are very attractive to women in the black community. They are more appealing because they cover your entire head and once in place, it can really look like your natural hair (hairline and all). So what does it need to stay in place and look good? Not pins or strings but GLUE! Yes, the lace front wings have to be glued to the perimeter of your head. Countess Vaughn developed a horrible allergic reaction from the glue that is used to fasten the wig to her skin. If this is not a sign and witness to the harms of these weaves then I don't know what will make women stop wearing these things on their head. Is the pain of chemical reactions and other harmful effects of wearing wigs worth it? Countess Vaughn was brave en

Are You Shampooing Your Natural Hair Properly?

Image
Shampooing Natural Hair Are you shampooing your natural hair properly? How hard can it be though? Isn't it just wetting your hair, applying shampoo, rinsing and be done. Well, sorry to burst your bubble but that's a NO!  Have you ever shampooed your hair but your scalp has white residue on it or your scalp do not feel or look clean? Well that's because you might not be doing this thing right. So how do you do it?   1. First, choose the right shampoo. Choose sulfate-free shampoos for routine washes. Shampoos containing sulfates can leave your hair brittle and dry - we don't want that. So choose a good shampoo that is sulfate-free. SheaMoisture and OBI makes really good moisturizing shampoos and Shampoo Bar, give them a try.  2. Divide your hair in sections.  Unless you have straight hair, shampooing your entire head all at once will lead to tangles, breakage, split ends, and itchy dirty scalp. Shampooing your natural hair in sections allow you to pay

Lupita Nyong'o Attacked by Dencia (Maker of Whitenicious Bleaching Cream)

Image
Lupita Nyong’o, the gracious black beauty was an honoree at the Essence Women Luncheon a few days ago. In her speech, revealed her struggles being a black girl to womanhood and how images of the supermodel Alek Wek made her see beauty in herself as they both shared the same 'midnight' complexion. She then pulled out a letter a fan wrote to her thanking her for appearing on the scene just in time before she ordered Decia's Whitencious bleaching cream.  “Dear Lupita,” it reads, “I think you’re really lucky to be this Black but yet this successful in Hollywood overnight. I was just about to buy Dencia’s Whitenicious cream to lighten my skin when you appeared on the world map and saved me.” Who or what is Decia's Whitencious Cream you might ask? Dencia is the Cameroonian-Nigerian singer 'was' of dark complexion but been using bleaching cream to lighten her skin to a 'very pale' complexion. Now I urge you to look up FOOL in the dictionary and her pale

Tutorial: 3 Strand Twist Out on Natural Hair

Tutorial: 3 Strand Twist Out On Natural Hair My new obsession is the Three(3) Strand Twist Out on my Natural Hair. 3 strand twist out are great because they leave my hair a lot more fuller than my usual braid outs. In addition, my curls are more spirally and elongated than any other curl defining method. It might seem complicated at first, but 3 strand twist have become second nature to me. After doing it a couple times its really easy. In the video below I show you how I do this type of twist out. Tutorial: 3 Strand Twist Out On Natural Hair
