Shea Moisture Cosmetics Review Shea Moisture is a force to be reckoned with in the beauty department. If you are a regular reader here on GlamNaturalLife.com, then you know I try to get my hands on all things Shea Moisture. From hair to body and now cosmetics, Shea Moisture has delivered with great products at super affordable prices.  Shea Moisture first revealed their cosmetics line ‘A Better Way to Beautiful’ at Korto Momulu’s Fashion show here in New York City during Fashion Week earlier this year. The complete cosmetics collection is now exclusively sold in stores and  Target.com ; so it is easily attainable. I was given the chance to try the foundation, CC cream, face powder, blush and lipgloss and I had to gush about them.

Karyn Washington - Founder of For Brown Girls - Commits Suicide

Image
Karyn Washington of 'For Brown Girls' Commits Suicide If you have not yet heard, then I come bringing the bad news. Karyn Washington, founder of the For Brown Girls website has committed suicide. Her website http://www.forbrowngirls.com/ which promotes women's empowerment and self-love served as a very useful tool for women who had self-esteem issues and also assisted most of us natural girls as we fought with accepting and loving our natural hair after the big chop. Karyn was a very important blogger in the natural hair community for her motivation talks on YouTube and her blog. She will be missed and never be forgotten for the person she was and the contribution she made to women all over the world. Karyn Washington’s mother passed away due to her long battle with cancer. This great loss pulled Karyn down into a deep sea of depression which led to her suicide. It is really sad to see such a beautiful soul leave us. I cannot help but wonder where was her supp

Going Natural Is not a Hairstyle

Image
Going Natural Is Not A Hairstyle More and more I see and read on other blogs where girls are obsessed about the next girl's hair. It's not rare to hear a girl who is transitioning say 'Oh I want my hair to look like THAT when I go natural'. A lot of women see natural hair as a hairstyle. Wait...let me rephrase that. A lot of 'people' think that natural hair is a hairstyle. But it is not. Going natural or being natural is a way of life. It's going back to your roots and wearing your hair as it is grown from your head. It is not a hairstyle it's simply just accepting our hair for what it is and rocking the hell out of it. Yes the way we comb and style our hair is a hairstyle but there is a deeper issue here.

Featured Naturalista: Mykel Trent

Image
Featured Naturalista: Mykel Trent Where are you from? I am originally from Winnsboro, Louisiana. I am finishing my degree in Troy, Alabama! What’s something we wouldn't know by looking at you? That I am short. Most people look at my pictures and automatically assume I am at least 5'6 or taller. My modeling training has helped with that a lot. How long have you been natural? I am not entirely sure, but I will say two years? going on three years. Did you do the Big Chop or did you transition to natural hair and When? I transitioned for the longest and then chopped it. June of 2011. Did you have a support system? Not really. I just took it upon myself to make the decision. I told no one so there would not be any negativity that swayed my decision to go natural. What is more important to you - Hair Length or Hair Health? Honestly? Length. But without health, length may not come soooo. :) What are some of your favorite natural hair products?

Willow Smith Rocks Her Faux Locs

Image
Willow smith rocks her Faux Locs Willow Smith, daughter of Will and Jada Smith is a fashion trendsetter in her own right. She is very young at only 13 years old but her personal style is very much unique and she owns it. Recently she was seen out and about in Los Angeles rocking her faux locs. Willow and her hair are no stranger to the news regarding her ever changing hair styles. One second she is bald, the next second she can be seen strutting a blue and green wig.
