Product Review - SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore

Have you tried any of the products from the new Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore line? If you haven't, then let me tell you a little more about them based on my experience as I have tried most of the products from this line.

First, I must state that Jamaican Black castor oil is a very potent ingredient that repairs your hair and strengthens it, leaving you with great shine. However the smell of raw JBCO can be very overwhelming, leaving a lot of women shying away from using it. I am a Shea Moisture lover and was very delighted when they came out with a Jamaican Black Castor Oil line. With this line you get the great benefits of JBCO without the strong smell that is normally associated with it. In addition, most of the products are fortified with other great ingredients such as coconut oil, shea butter and Jojoba oil.

Below is my review for each product:

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Shampoo

Price: $10.99

If you are familiar with the SheaMoisture brand, then you know their shampoo size is always around 13oz, and sure does go a lonnng way. However, the Jamaican Black Castor Oil shampoo is ginormous at 16oz so you are getting a lot for your money. You will definitely have this in your shower for a while.

You get a good lather from only a small amount of this shampoo and after I rinsed it out, I was very pleased. My hair was very soft to the touch and clean. It felt as though I added conditioner.  Hands down, the best shampoo I have used in the Shea Moisture family of products. I would recommend this to anyone.

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Treatment Masque

Price: $12.99

This mask is perfect for giving your hair a really good deep conditioning. It repairs damaged, dry and brittle hair and restores the hair's elasticity.

This mask left my hair feeling very soft and supple. I absolutely love it as a rinse out conditioner and as a deep conditioner as well. Just remember that the consistency is clay like so rinse your hair properly to ensure that all of the product is rinsed out. Oh and girllll my hair was so shiny, I have to comment on that. My hair and I loves this.

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore  Styling Lotion

Price: $12.99

Let me tell you something, SheaMoisture had me smiling from ear to ear about this styling lotion. The label said that it is supposed to moisturize dry and course hair and leave your hair silky. Shoot, it did that to the 1000th degree. My hair was super soft after the first application. A little bit of this lotion detangled my hair, moisturized it and left me shocked at how good my hair felt. Then I was blown away days later when my hair was still feeling moisturized.

I use this on wet and dry hair and get the same results. Absolutely love this stuff. Seriously, you should give it a try. It is now my new favorite hair lotion. If you are a lover of the SheaMoisture Curl & Style Milk then I am happy to tell you that it is way better. Now a staple

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Edge treatment

Price: $12.99

This Jamaican Black Castor Oil edge treatment is supposed to double as an edge control and treatment. The consistency was like that of the SheaMoisture Soufflé, and instantly thought it would work like that product. However I did not like this product. My freshly washed hair was filled with white flakes. I was not happy because this meant I had to wash my hair again.  It might work for others but did nothing for me.

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Hair Serum

Price: $12.99
I love this serum. I massage it into my scalp on wash day then once mid-week. It leaves your hair really shiny and nourishes your scalp. It's packed with great ingredients such as JBCO, aloe vera, herbal extracts and vitamin E to nourish your scalp and repair split ends and offer shine to your hair. Just be verrrry light handed with this stuff. The first day I tried it, I used too much obviously. The next day I still had oil running down to my neck. So ladies, please use a small amount.

Where to buy?
All of these products are available at CVS and on SheaMoisture’s revamped website http://www.sheamoisture.com/
