Did You Know: Shea Moisture Has a Mommy Skin Care Line?

Shea Moisture Raw Shea Cupuaçu Mommy

Since getting pregnant I have been very worrisome about what my body will look like after the birth of my son. Will I get stretchmarks? Will they go away? So, for the past month, I have been trying out this new skin care line developed for mommies. Its the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Cupuaçu Mommy line. Yes people, Shea moisture does make skin care for mommies.

FACT:
Before I go into the review of this must product, I want to make some thing very clear. There are tons of products that promises us mom's that if you use this product, you wont get stretchmarks. I am here to tell you that it is not true. There is no one product in the world that will prevent you from getting stretch marks. I have consulted with about 4 different doctors so far and the answer has been the same:
  • Stretchmarks are caused by the skin stretching more rapidly than it had time to heal.
  • Stretchmarks are 'Genetic'. If your mom or sister has stretchmarks, then you are more prone to getting them. I am not saying you will get them, but you are more likely to.
  • No product can prevent you from getting them
  • They can fade overtime with the help of products

So what do you do so that you not walking around looking like a zebra?
The key to dealing with stretchmarks on your body is to tackle AS THEY OCCUR. No joke! You need to first find a product that increases elasticity and use it religiously while the stretchmarks are FRESH. That is where Shea Moisture Raw Shea Cupuaçu Mommy line come in. So far, I have not seen any stretch marks on my baby bump but they surely found their way to my breast. So, I have been using this line to help clear them up - seeing that they are new scars. Of course these product can also be used on non-pregnant ladies. If stretchmarks are are a problem or if you just want an organic skin care that will improve the quality of your, skin then the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Cupuaçu Mommy products can help you.

This line is primarily made of:
  • Organic Raw Shea Butter which deeply moisturizes and repairs skin with vitamins and essential fatty acids while reinforcing the skin's elasticity.
  • Amazonian Cupuaçu, which is a plant-sourced Lanolin substitute which is highly hydrating. It is very rich in phytosterols that benefits stressed skin and helps to protect, soften and soothe the skin.
  • Passiflora Oil to form a protective layer on the skin's surface, preventing moisture loss.
  • Jojoba Beads to gently exfoliate rough, dull skin without discomfort - leaving the skin soft and radiant.
  • Pistachio Oil which helps nourish and protect skin.

Below are my reviews for all the products in the line that I have tried.

Shea Moisture Raw Shea Cupuaçu Mommy All Over Body Scrub - $12.99

This is a very gentle body wash and body scrub and I absolutely love it. The Jojoba Beads are very small and exfoliates really well without being harsh on the skin. Exfoliating your skin is very important and is the first order of business in repairing skin with stretchmarks and also for softening normal skin. Removing the dead skin cells from your body prepares the new skin underneath to come to the surface and improve the overall look of your skin.

The Shea Moisture Mommy All Over Body Scrub is so rich and creamy and my skin seriously felt like it was enveloped in silk. I made sure to stand under shower for a minute so my entire 5'11 frame can be fully wet and dripping. Afterwards, I worked the scrub into my skin and exfoliated. My skin felt so soft when I washed off. With continued use I started to feel a difference in my skin's elasticity. I love it. I then follow up with the Shea Moisture Mommy Stretchmark Butter Cream.

Shea Moisture Raw Shea Cupuaçu Mommy Stretchmark Butter Cream - $12.99

This nutrient-rich Butter Cream hydrates and comforts dry, tight stretched skin. This butter cream has the consistency of a really well whipped shea butter. The combination of key ingredients for skin care prevents moisture loss and reduces the risk of stretch marks appearing.

I mostly use this right after i got out the shower and when my skin has been towel dried but still damp. applying on damp skin allow the cream to lock in the moisture left by the body scrub and also adds another layer of moisture and sealant for the skin. I have also used on dry skin with great result.

I can already see a reduction in the appearance of the new stretchmarks that appeared on my breast. My skin overall has also shown improvement because my skin feels softer than normal and not so firm and tight. If you are pregnant, then you know the itchy belly is no joke, but this really stops the itch so your not walking around scratching your itchy baby bump.

Shea Moisture Raw Shea Cupuaçu Mommy Soothing Nursing Balm - $14.99

Ok, this nursing balm is definitely a product that every pregnant woman and mother needs to have. It is a must-have if you have nipple sensitivity during pregnancy and also known to be great during the first months of breastfeeding when nipples may feel sore. It uses raw shea butter to hydrate, heal and helps to relieve irritation. It also uses the Amazonian Cupuaçu which is a plant based product with properties similar that of Lanolin. Lanolin can be found in almost all nipple cream to form as a protect layer for the nipples while repairing cracked, peeling and irritated nipples. It really helps to condition sensitive skin to keep nipples supple while nourishing and protecting skin. It also uses Passiflora Oil, which is a superior emollient rich in Vitamin C.

Personally I really loved this nipple cream. It is all natural, and it WORKS. Throughout my pregnancy, my nipples have been a pain the but. They crack, peel, often burn (especially when I am cold). Nothing about this is cute. But when I use the nursing balm my nipples look normal again (trust me that's a big PLUS for me) and they are not as irritated anymore.

***I am not yet nursing so I cannot comment on how effective it is on nursing nipples. But, I will update this review when my little baby boy is finally here.

I recommend this line to all Mommies, Mommies-to-bes, and anyone who is looking to improve the quality of their skin!
