 Featured Naturalista: Benita Andrews

Hey Guys! Its a real pleasure featuring Benita as this week's Naturalista. Benita Andrews is the owner of the natural hair care product boutique Frize' Boutique. Enjoy her story below:

Where are you from?
Savannah, GA

What’s something we wouldn't know by looking at you?
I owner of a natural hair product boutique by the name of Frize' Boutique www.frizeboutique.com

How long have you been natural? I've been natural since 2009.

Did you do the Big Chop or did you transition to natural hair and When?
I transitioned for a little over as year and then I big chopped in 2011.

Did you have a support system?
Not at all. By the third day I was regretting the big chop big time with no one to cry to!

What is more important to you - Hair Length or Hair Health?
Hair health is more important to me. Having long hair isn't doing you any good if it's not healthy.

What are some of your favorite natural hair products?
I have two staple products and I absolutely love both of them. I sell both products in my boutique. ATON's Natty products (Natty Butter, Natty Mist and Natty Moist) and Coco Curls Moisturizing Créme.

What is your natural hair regimen?
The longest I go without washing my hair is two weeks. I detangle with Natty Moist. I'm not married to a particular shampoo but my conditioner must be a moisturizing one. I usually use more Natty Moist and cover my head for about 30 Minutes before rinsing. My final rinse is a concoction of cold distilled water and ACV. I will then two strand twist my hair using either of my favorite products.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering to go natural or a newly natural sista? Do your research. This is a journey...trial and error. Don't get hung up on those videos on YouTube. Your hair might not look like that the first time out of the gate (or ever)...theirs didn't either. Buy quality products, not just those products "because she uses them".

Where can we find you?
You can find me on Facebook, Twitter and my website at www.frizeboutique.com

INTERLOCKING ROTATION | 2 Point vs 4 Point Rotation On Locs

INTERLOCKING ROTATION | 2 Point vs 4 Point Rotation On Locs Hi Loves, I always get asked about how do I interlock my locs and the rotation I used - whether its 2-point or 4-point rotation. Some people also use the term 2-way or 4-way rotation. In the video below, I illustrate on my own locs, the difference between the two methods. you can then compare for yourself, if there is a difference between the two by looking at my locs. Do you interlock your locs? Share below which rotation do you use?

Lupita Nyong'o Attacked by Dencia (Maker of Whitenicious Bleaching Cream)

Lupita Nyong’o, the gracious black beauty was an honoree at the Essence Women Luncheon a few days ago. In her speech, revealed her struggles being a black girl to womanhood and how images of the supermodel Alek Wek made her see beauty in herself as they both shared the same 'midnight' complexion. She then pulled out a letter a fan wrote to her thanking her for appearing on the scene just in time before she ordered Decia's Whitencious bleaching cream.  “Dear Lupita,” it reads, “I think you’re really lucky to be this Black but yet this successful in Hollywood overnight. I was just about to buy Dencia’s Whitenicious cream to lighten my skin when you appeared on the world map and saved me.” Who or what is Decia's Whitencious Cream you might ask? Dencia is the Cameroonian-Nigerian singer 'was' of dark complexion but been using bleaching cream to lighten her skin to a 'very pale' complexion. Now I urge you to look up FOOL in the dictionary and her pale
