Homemade Body Scrub

Get Glowing Skin for Your 4th of July Bash with a Red, White and Blue Homemade Body Scrub

By Michelle of Skana Spa of New York Resort

Summer is not only the perfect season for patio dining, pool parties and fun-filled beach getaways; it is also the time when skincare matters most. The same UV rays that give you that golden summer glow are powerful enough to cause premature aging, leaving you with unwanted dryness, uneven pigmentation and wrinkles. If you want to show up to your Fourth of July BBQ with a soft, radiant look that family and friends will remember, revitalize your skin with a refreshing Red, White and Blue Body Scrub that can be made right in your own home.

Below, is an easy DIY treatment inspired by the Skana Spa of New York resort, Turning Stone.  To create this festive and ultra-hydrating scrub, you will need to gather a few basic supplies, most of which might already be stocked in your kitchen.

These supplies include:

• 10 strawberries
• Handful of raspberries or blackberries
• Handful of blueberries
• ¼ baby oil
• ½ cup brown or cane sugar
• 1-cup fine sea salt
• Strainer
• Blender
• Paring knife
• Cutting board

How To Prepare!
Once you have the ingredients and supplies ready, begin preparing the scrub by removing all stems and leaves from the strawberries.  Next, place your red and blue berries in the strainer and carefully rinse until they are free of all dirt and possible pesticides.  After the berries have been washed, place them in the blender along with the oil, sugar and salt.  Blend the mixture until thoroughly pureed and place in a tightly-sealed jar until you are ready to use.

Now Enjoy!
The Red, White and Blue Body Scrub is the perfect way to hydrate and rejuvenate your skin after soaking in the sun’s hot summer rays.  Not only is this scrub all natural and free of harsh chemicals, but it is full of vitamins and nutrients the skin needs to regenerate after damaging sun exposure.  Strawberries and raspberries deliver a healthy dose of skin-brightening vitamin A, while blackberries and blueberries provide a massive supply of wrinkle-fighting antioxidants.

Whether you will be hosting or attending a celebration this Fourth of July season, this convenient yet luxurious scrub has something to offer.  Hostesses will find that the scrub serves as a great party favor that beauty-conscious attendees will love.  If you want to look your best when greeting family and friends this holiday, take the time to nourish your skin with the natural ingredients of the Red, White and Blue homemade Body Scrub.

Maroon Dawta Handmade Jewelry

Back in April my best friend ordered me a parcel of MaroonDawta jewelry. I was over the moon with excitement. Lol! I have been stalking their Instagram for some time now and wanted to own at least one piece. Now I own a couple thanks to Trudy. I know I am months late with a review but I wanted to show you guys anyway.

In case you don't know who or what is MaroonDawta Ltd. It is a hand-crafted jewelry and accessories company based in the UK and owned and designed personally by Tremaine who was born in Jamaica.

The name 'MaroonDawta' was chosen as a homage to Tremaine's heritage as a Jamaican Maroon and 'Dawta' is 'daughter' spelled in patwa (Jamaican's native dialect).

Their products are made mostly from mainly natural materials such as wood and semi-precious gemstones. Every piece is unique  and carefully crafted. Is so unique and truly had done that no one bead on bracelet looks identical 100%. The earrings all have a unique, cultural and ethnic feel to it.

Below are the bracelets.

I pair them together, or with my watch or wear as singles if I want. What I love most about these bracelets is that they go on like a bangle so you can easily hook it yourself. No more calling the boyfriend to come and help me hook my bracelets. Lol!

I have both the Nanny of the Maroon earring and the Pick Comb earring. I must say they looked huge when I opened the package and thought they would be heavy. But they are really light weight.

The richness of the colors and detailing is top notch. I am happy my friend got me these jewels because I love these handmade jewelry and wear them daily.

If you don't own anything from Maroon Dawta I think you should order now.

Bad Natural hair day FIXED!

So, Saturday my boyfriend and I got invited to his boss's Bday brunch. The weather was hot and I felt like rocking a braid-out so I braided from the night before using my Entwine Cream Jelle Styler. Now, I thought my hair was going to be big and hella FLY! We were in a rush so after I unravel the braids I decide to fluff my hair in the car and do my makeup while the boo drove. THAT'S when I realize my hair had white residue EVERYWHERE. I was frustrated. I was mad. I was in the car with not much to work with. I tried to shake it off, rub rub rub and to no success because now I had a frizzy mess. But thank God I found 2 Bobby pins in my purse. I did two flat twist from the front to the back on both sides then pin up the back covering the ends of the twist with my bobby pin. The ends were all tucked in so the white mess on the ends were hidden.

I loved the Entwine Cream Jelle Styler, but now I am thinking that product do not have a long shelf life. I only combined with oil which I have done before and never had this happen before. All in all, the flat twist up-do saved the day.

What is your go to style when you have a bad natural hair day?
