Relax With a Glass of Green Smoothie!

Image
Its certainly been a while since I have last made or even tasted a glass of smoothie. This is mostly due to being imprisoned by Gestation Diabetes throughout my pregnancy. I swear, everything I love, I could not have because it had too much sugar or starch so it felt like I was in prison. Lol! Now that DJ is here I can go back to making my healthy smoothies. It will also be great for me as I try to get my body back. I decided to have a refreshing healthy snack tonight and this old favorite smoothie recipe came to mind. Ingredients: Two big handfuls of baby spinach One handful of frozen strawberries One small tangerine One cup of coconut water That is all that you need! It tasted sooooo good and knowing that its good for you is simply a plus. This made about three generous servings.  Do you make smoothies at home? Share your recipes. Would you like me to post more recipes?

Vegetarian Challenge Food Shopping

Image
Hey loves! So, as I plan for this 14 Days No Meat Vegetarian Challenge , I realize that I need to go food shopping soon. I better get this shopping list in order. I will not be going crazy in the supermarket getting every veggie in site - I need to start slow. If you don't know what your doing either, I suggest you go slow with me. Lol! First, think of what meals you want in the first few days. Google recipes and see what you might want to try. Make sure your list has items that are rich in vitamins, Protein, Iron, Zinc and Fiber.  We want to make sure our meals are balanced so we get the most out of this experience. Also, I will post here and the Facebook Page as I come across recipes or ideas that I love. I know I will be on my smoothie game and I think I will be trying steamed veggies and grains and salads and potatoes maybe. Ok....now to my list: Bag of leafy greens (baby spinach, kale, chard) for salad, cooking and smoothie  Red Cabbage...

Image
Hey Loves, Photo Credit: www.vegetariantimes.com From February 1st to 14th I will be embarking on a 14 Day Vegetarian Challenge and I want you guys to come aboard with me.  So, I was inspired to reserve 14 days out of February to do my body good and not eat meat for that period and instead eat all things vegetable, fruits and ground produce and even some fish occasionally. While, I am not going vegan, this vegetarian challenge should do my body well and yours too. I will be documenting my journey on the blog with daily posts as a way to push me and also you to complete the challenge and not slack off. Note, I am not a nutritionist nor do I claim to be one. However I have done my research and know that detoxing your body from meat and processed foods can do your body good. And to be honest, would 14 days be that bad to take off from consuming meats and such so we can treat our body good and feed it with what the earth provides? You Choose how strict you want to be. Th...

Benefits Of Drinking Lemon Water

Image
Benefits Of Drinking Lemon Water Hey Loves! Did you know that there are many benefits to be reaped from drinking Lemon water? This is very true. Last year I decided to lay off of drinking carbonated beverages and juices from concentrate. Now I only drink fresh smoothies that I make myself, water and lemon water. If you want me to post articles on making smoothies then let me know in the comment section below. Today we are going to talk about the benefits of drinking lemon water and why you should include it in your diet.  First lets establish something: Water is good for you and we need to consume a lot of it on a daily bases. You might think this is crazy, but when you stop drinking sodas and juices high with fructose syrup you will be craving water more and won't even realize how much you are drinking it.  Lemon is an excellent source of nutrients for you. We see lemon as decorative garnish for drinks in restaurants and bars. However we often do...

Tea Time with Teavana

Image
Loose Flavored Black Tea from Teavana!  Hey Guys, Sometime have unwind and chill and have some me time. Reflect a little. Instead of grabbing a glass of wine to relax and unwind, why not grab some tea? Yes I said tea. Lol! I know most people only drink tea if they are sick, however tea is the best 'chill pill' you could ask for. Its natural, organic and great for our immune system while giving us the calming feeling we crave. Champaign Sangria Punch Black Tea from Teavana Ok Ok! So you must be saying that 'black tea' is bitter. However, it doesn't have to be. I will agree that dry loose black tea is indeed a strong tasting tea once steeped. But thats where tea shops like Teavana comes to the rescue. You can get flavored teas which taste great and just as beneficial. This Sangria Black Tea has dried fruits added to the dry loose teas to give it a more calming aroma while tasting good and relax your body and mind. Stop at your nearest tea s...

Uses of Apple Cedar Vinegar

Image
Hey Guys! I love apple cedar vinegar (ACV) so I wanted to share with you some of its benefits. ACV is good for many things and can be used in so many different ways. The Many Uses of Apple Cedar Vinegar Personally I primarily use it for 2 things: 1. Cook with. Apple Cedar vinegar is acidic and adds flavor to your food. If you have high blood pressure you can add it to your pot instead of salt. 2. Rinse my Natural Hair I use it to rinse my hair after washing to remove product buildup. Also, I have scalp eczema and it pretty much eliminates that. If you have dandruff or eczema problems I recommend an ACV rinse. Make sure you dilute it (one part ACV to one part water). Do you use Apple Cedar Vinegar? How do you use it?

A Healthy Smoothie a day promotes better health

Living Healthy The Smoothie Way!! Recently I have been blending up a storm in the kitchen. I have read a lot on greens and fruits that does the body well and wanted to improve my health. Last week we bought a Vitamix and I love it. I have been on a healthy journey for a few months now and I am enjoying it. Dark leafy vegetables are great for our body but lets face it, they don't taste good. They are bitter and unless you add salts an butters they simply just taste bitter. However cooking leafy vegetables and adding salt and butter makes it less nutritious. But throwing these raw nutritious elements into your blender with some sweet frozen fruits mask the taste and you still get the benefits. Just want to share this morning's smoothie recipe with you. Bare in that mind I have ZERO time in the morning (on a workday) to do anything in the kitchen. So, I make smoothies in the evening ( I have time for that. Lol!). After my boyfriend and I have a cup the rest I put in...

Healthy All Natural Snack: Edamame

Image
Say Hello to my new snack:  Edamame  (pronounced as  'eh-dah-MAH-may' ) Lately I have been fighting with my scale because it keep showing me these high numbers and really not being my friend right now. I have decided to try to live healthier and then I am sure the scale will show lower numbers and maybe we can be friends again. My first meal to attack is SNACKING! I snack way too often and not with the right foods. My choice of snacks are cookies and biscuit, bubble teas (milk and no milk), nuts and dear I say it -Chocolate! Not good choices obviously (minus the nuts). So I decide to change up my snack habits and felt like sharing with you guys. So what is Edamame? Edamame is a Soybean that is harvested at the peak of ripeness while its still green. This soybean variety has long been consumed in Asian countries such as Japan and China. In recent years the health benefit of this vegetable have caught the attention of Americans and now its a snack that ...

Spa Day at the King Sauna Spa NJ

Image
King Sauna Spa NJ Last weekend was my birthday and my boyfriend treated me to a spa day. As scary as it seemed I chose a traditional Korean Spa versus the regular style spa that everybody is use to. Initially I considered Spa Castle in Queens NY as that is the only one I heard about. Then my boyfriend researched and suggested King Sauna Spa in NJ. I am so happy he did. So why not Spa Castle? My biggest problem with Spa castle was that the reviews revealed that there are lots of kid running around and it's really a water park and maybe most suitable for families. I am sorry but I did not want to deal with tons of kids running around on my birthday. So King Sauna Spa was the big choice. Now this choice came with the biggest issue that my friends and I had to get our minds ready for: The Nudity . Yes girls, in the wet sauna (bathhouse) you cannot wear any clothes. So Sunday at noon, with fear and excitement in the fore front our minds, my two friends and I headed ou...
