Khaled Hosseini - And The Mountains Echoed (My New Read)

Image
I am a big fan of Khaled Hosseini , the #1 New York Times–bestselling author of The Kite Runner & A Thousand Splendid Suns now has a new novel called  And the Mountains Echoed . I love Khaled Hosseini's books because they make me feel like I am traveling with him from Kabul some other middle eastern country to America, to Europe all while learning the ins and outs of another culture. I have read the  The Kite Runner  and the  A Thousand Splendid Suns  with such delight and interest and curiosity and he took me on his journeys. The narrative is so alive, vivid and real that if he was walking and talking in the dirt fields barefooted with his Baba you would feel like you were a part of it. I have been so busy with work and my blog that I did not even realize that a new book came out until I saw a Book Club notice in lobby of my building. While I have no time for a book club, I will be enjoying this book on the train to and from work. If you love to read and love novels t

Vegetarian Challenge Food Shopping

Image
Hey loves! So, as I plan for this 14 Days No Meat Vegetarian Challenge , I realize that I need to go food shopping soon. I better get this shopping list in order. I will not be going crazy in the supermarket getting every veggie in site - I need to start slow. If you don't know what your doing either, I suggest you go slow with me. Lol! First, think of what meals you want in the first few days. Google recipes and see what you might want to try. Make sure your list has items that are rich in vitamins, Protein, Iron, Zinc and Fiber.  We want to make sure our meals are balanced so we get the most out of this experience. Also, I will post here and the Facebook Page as I come across recipes or ideas that I love. I know I will be on my smoothie game and I think I will be trying steamed veggies and grains and salads and potatoes maybe. Ok....now to my list: Bag of leafy greens (baby spinach, kale, chard) for salad, cooking and smoothie  Red Cabbage  Sweet peppers Onions

Image
Hey Loves, Photo Credit: www.vegetariantimes.com From February 1st to 14th I will be embarking on a 14 Day Vegetarian Challenge and I want you guys to come aboard with me.  So, I was inspired to reserve 14 days out of February to do my body good and not eat meat for that period and instead eat all things vegetable, fruits and ground produce and even some fish occasionally. While, I am not going vegan, this vegetarian challenge should do my body well and yours too. I will be documenting my journey on the blog with daily posts as a way to push me and also you to complete the challenge and not slack off. Note, I am not a nutritionist nor do I claim to be one. However I have done my research and know that detoxing your body from meat and processed foods can do your body good. And to be honest, would 14 days be that bad to take off from consuming meats and such so we can treat our body good and feed it with what the earth provides? You Choose how strict you want to be. Featured Naturalista: Micca Whaley Where are you from?   I am from South Carolina. What’s something we wouldn't know by looking at you?   This is really hard. I guess I would say that because I tend to carry myself in a "I take myself pretty seriously" way to some, most people are very shocked to learn that I am a complete nut. I mean I'm very silly and down right immature at times. Haha! I can also cross stitch and crochet. Having Fun with the FRO! How long have you been natural?   I have been natural for about 4 weeks now! I'm a baby natural but I'm so happy that I finally did it! Did you do the Big Chop or did you transition to natural hair and When?   My last relaxer was February 2013. I transitioned for 10 months before cutting the relaxed ends on December 8, 2013. But I like to think I did my big chop, kind of, before I really transitioned. I cut my relaxed hair into a pixie cut in March 2013 and then let it grow from there with min

Benefits Of Drinking Lemon Water

Image
Benefits Of Drinking Lemon Water Hey Loves! Did you know that there are many benefits to be reaped from drinking Lemon water? This is very true. Last year I decided to lay off of drinking carbonated beverages and juices from concentrate. Now I only drink fresh smoothies that I make myself, water and lemon water. If you want me to post articles on making smoothies then let me know in the comment section below. Today we are going to talk about the benefits of drinking lemon water and why you should include it in your diet.  First lets establish something: Water is good for you and we need to consume a lot of it on a daily bases. You might think this is crazy, but when you stop drinking sodas and juices high with fructose syrup you will be craving water more and won't even realize how much you are drinking it.  Lemon is an excellent source of nutrients for you. We see lemon as decorative garnish for drinks in restaurants and bars. However we often do not

How To Make Natural Face Mask using Aztec Healing Clay

Image
DIY Natural Face Mask with Aztec Healing Clay Hey My Loves! Have you ever tried to make a Natural Face Mask? Well I have done some research and decide to make my own featuring the Aztec Indian Healing Clay. I was so happy to try this. So what is this Aztec Healing Clay? This is 100% Calcium Bentonite Clay (nothing added - 100% pure). This is great for clearing up the skin of acne, blackheads, dead skin, other impurities and leave the skin glowing and clean. When mixed properly into a nice paste and apply to the face it, it gets hard after about 15mins. As it hardens, it pulls all bad stuff from under our skin to the surface (like a suction).
