Energy Boosting Smoothie

Image
Energy Boosting Smoothie I always post pics of my smoothies on Instagram and always get questions about whats in them and that I should start sharing it on the blog. So, I listened....so here goes... Starting the morning right is important. Your Mum wasn't kidding when she told you that you needed to eat breakfast everyday. You know that saying Breakfast Is For Champions? It's Real! How about starting the day with an Energy Booting Smoothie? I try my hardest to drink energy boosting smoothies as often as I can. Preferably everyday but sometimes I am in a rush and can't make it every morning - but I try.  Energy Boosting Smoothie Recipe: (I don't measure anything except for Maca root powder) 1 Orange (peeled and de-seeded) 1 Banana Kale  Carrot  Handful of Goji Berries 1 Teaspoon maca root powder Blend and Enjoy! I like to pour in a mason Jar and run out the door if I am in a rush! Benefits: All of these ingredients have energ

Khangri Japanese Restaurant Review

Do you love sushi? Do you live in Westchester or the Bronx? What if I told you there is an $22 All-You-Can-Eat high class sushi restaurants hidden in Yonkers NY? Yes, Khangri  is the best thing since slice bread. I am always excited to have dinner here and have been going since it opened and I really should have told you about it before. Well it's still open and serving up good sushi, so better late than never right? I am big foodie and always trying new places and food. This place stil have me coming back. In a single visit I order at least two large plates of sushi. Lol! This restaurant is located in the middle of Yonkers Square at 22 Warburton Ave, Yonkers, NY 10701.  When I first pulled up and saw the big All-You-Can-Eat sign, I thought this got to be some cheap looking place and food. However, when we stepped inside it was nothing but class. Very well decorated and invited. We were the only one there so all services catered to us. Food was great and menu for th

Africa Will See Me One Day

Hey Friends!  Hope you had a great Valentine's Day and Valentine's Weekend. And, if it's still going, then Happy Valentine Month. Lol! So Valentine's Day and Weekend was great. I got sentimental Pandora charms from my FiancĂ© and I treated him to dinner at BoneFish restaurant. I will do a review on that restaurant soon.  But, today I have to talk about my African Inspired weekend courtesy of my FiancĂ©. On Saturday, February 15th, we went to the Soweto Gospel Choir Concert at Leman Center For The Performing Arts. It was the best concert I ever been to. The Soweto Gospel Choir was formed to celebrate the unique and inspirational power of African Gospel music. The 24-strong choir, under the direction of Beverly Bryer, draws on the best talent from the many churches in and around Soweto. They have been paying tribute to the late Nelson Mandela since his unfortunate death in December of last year. They closed the concert with this uplifting and inspirat

The Issues with Natural Hair Typing

Image
My Issues With Natural Hair Typing! So something have been bothering me that I have to address. The obsession with hair typing in the natural hair community truly irritates me.  I personally think that natural hair typing is another way to class women's hair on a scale of good or bad. If a woman's hair is nappy (4Cs) as they call it, they are encouraged to do something to it so it's more curly. I sometimes feel like we are back to where we started from - thinking that the closer we are to white the better we are. Hence why biracial women are more considered to have good hair than say me who have nappy hair. But guess what, they can think what they want but I Got That Good Black African Hair. Yes Ma'am! With it's many kinks, curls, curves and all - that is my good hair. We all have good hair. Girls are constantly obsessed with getting a curlier natural hair pattern and are sometimes chastised for wearing their hair as it is in its natural state. Like se
